Moroccan giants AS FAR have completed the signing of their former star Reda Selim on loan from Egyptian club Al Ahly ahead of the new season.
Under the terms of the agreement, Al Ahly will continue to cover a substantial portion of Selim’s salary, while AS FAR retain an option to make the move permanent for under $1 million, provided the player proves his value to the club’s management.
The race to secure Selim’s services was intense, with Wydad Casablanca, Raja Casablanca, and RS Berkane all expressing strong interest.
However, AS FAR emerged victorious, thanks in part to Selim’s loyalty to his former club. The forward had previously vowed to fans that if he ever returned to the Moroccan top flight, it would only be to rejoin the Royal Army club.
Selim left a lasting legacy during his previous spell with AS FAR, notably scoring a dramatic last-minute winner against Ittihad Tangier two seasons ago.
That goal secured a historic league title for the club in the final round of the Moroccan League.
His return marks a key addition to AS FAR’s ambitious summer rebuild.
The club has already wrapped up 12 signings during the current transfer window, fuelled by approximately $6 million in revenue generated from player sales abroad.
