The Disciplinary Board of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has fined Moroccan club AS FAR USD20,000.
This comes after the board found the club guilty of misconduct, infringement of Articles 17.1 and 17.5 of the CAF Regulation, failure to organise adequate security and the use of laser pointers in their TotalEnergies CAF Champions League fixture against Pyramids FC.
The decision to fine the Moroccan club was taken on Wednesday, after the CAF Disciplinary Board met to deliberate on various matters.
In addition to the fine, AS FAR will play one match behind closed doors, a punishment suspended for one year.
“The CAF Disciplinary charged ASFAR (Morocco) with misconduct, infringement of Articles 17.1 and 17.5 of the CAF Regulation, failure to organise adequate security and the use of laser pointers in their TotalEnergies CAF Champions League fixture against Pyramids FC (8 April, 2025).
“The Disciplinary Board found ASFAR guilty and ruled they must play one match behind closed door. This was suspended for one (1) year. ASFAR was also fined USD 20,000,” CAF announced in a press release on Thursday, April 17.
