AS FAR condemns refereeing decisions in goalless Clásico against Raja Casablanca
Moroccan giants AS FAR have strongly condemned the refereeing decisions that marred their midweek Clásico clash with Raja Casablanca, which ended in a goalless draw.
In a statement released after the match, the club expressed its “absolute rejection” of key calls made by the officiating team, insisting they had been unfairly denied a legitimate goal and two penalties.
AS FAR revealed it had consulted refereeing experts, who confirmed what the club described as “clear injustice.” The club further announced its intention to escalate the matter to safeguard its rights.
The high-profile fixture was repeatedly interrupted by lengthy VAR reviews, contributing to mounting frustration among players and fans alike.
Responding swiftly to the controversy, Morocco’s Refereeing Directorate announced disciplinary action against the officials.
Match referee Mohsen Al-Sordi has been suspended for two games, while VAR official Abdel Moneim Baslam received a three-match suspension.
According to the Directorate, the sanctions are intended to “guarantee fairness among clubs” and address legitimate protests from teams.
The match officials had overturned two penalty decisions and a goal in AS FAR’s favour—calls that sparked outrage within the army club and led to their official protest.
