AS FAR coach Alexandre Santos under scrutiny after heavy defeat against Pyramids FC

AS FAR head coach, Alexandre Santos has come under intense scrutiny following his side’s heavy defeat against Pyramids FC in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.

The Moroccan club suffered a 4-1 defeat against the Egyptian side on Tuesday.

Following the defeat, the head of the AS FAR, General Mohamed Haramou, was left furious and has requested a detailed report explaining the reasons for the players’ extremely poor performance, despite the logistical and financial facilities provided to them before the match.

Santos, who is the third coach to take over the team this season, is facing enormous pressure after this result, especially with the clear decline in the technical level of the players, and the major mistakes that marred the defense and midfield lines.

“Santos has disappointed expectations after all the promises he made before the match, especially since he was the biggest bet on the team’s success in the tournament, given his previous experience with the Angolan team, Vita Club,” a source close to the club said.

“Santos caused the worst African defeat in the club’s history, and now he has no choice but to salvage his position in the second leg next Tuesday.”

Meanwhile, General Mohamed Haramou has also requested a separate report on the incidents that prevented the team’s fans, who had traveled from Morocco before Eid al-Fitr, from attending the match.
