Marseille Target Arthur Masuaku to Bolster Left-Back Options
Olympique de Marseille, under the new leadership of coach Marcelo Bielsa, is looking to strengthen its left side of defence and has set its sights on promising young talent Arthur Masuaku.
The 19-year-old left-back, currently playing for Valenciennes in Ligue 2, has attracted interest from the Ligue 1 club as they seek additional options ahead of the new season.
Marseille had hoped to complete the signing before the team’s training resumed this Friday but were ultimately unable to finalise the deal in time.
Despite the delay, OM remains determined to secure Masuaku’s services. Jean Raymond, president of Valenciennes, has confirmed the club’s asking price is €1.2 million—a figure well within Marseille’s budget and reflective of the player’s potential.
Masuaku, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has impressed with his defensive solidity and forward runs, making him an attractive prospect for Bielsa, who values dynamic full-backs in his tactical setup.
As Marseille continues to prepare for the upcoming season, the acquisition of Masuaku could provide the squad with much-needed depth and youthful energy on the left flank. Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
