Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his satisfaction with Bukayo Saka’s performance after the winger scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over AC Milan in Singapore on Wednesday night.
The victory was part of the Gunners’ pre-season tour in Asia as they ramp up preparations for the new campaign.
Saka, who is of Nigerian descent, looked sharp throughout the contest and found the net to seal Arsenal’s second straight friendly win.
Arteta highlighted the 23-year-old’s fitness and mentality, noting the effort put in to prepare him during the summer.
“Yeah, we’re all very happy with the performance, especially with the attitude, the quality, the determination that we showed throughout the game,” said Arteta.
“Regarding individuals, he was at a really good level. Bukayo is one of them. We have pushed him through the summer… to give himself the best chance to explore his qualities.”
The Arsenal boss also took time to praise 15-year-old Max Dowman, who featured in the match.
“I’m very happy with all the kids… when somebody makes you feel so comfortable, so confident, straight away you can go and do it.”
Arteta further noted his satisfaction with Kai Havertz’s display, calling the German “top” for his work rate and movement, as he continued his return from injury.
