Arsenal weigh ambitious move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen

Arsenal are considering a major move for Victor Osimhen after opening discussions with Galatasaray about the Nigeria international, according to The Telegraph.

The Gunners have been monitoring Osimhen for several seasons and manager Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his attacking options with a centre-forward who can provide physical power, pace and a consistent scoring threat.

Osimhen has established himself as one of the most sought-after strikers in world football after a series of impressive campaigns. His performances have continued to attract interest from leading clubs, with Arsenal now emerging as one of the teams prepared to explore a deal before the end of the summer transfer window.

The initial discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray have also involved other players from the London club, including Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. Those conversations could create an opportunity for the two sides to hold broader negotiations over Osimhen.

However, Galatasaray are not expected to allow their leading forward to leave easily. The Turkish champions regard the 27-year-old as a central figure in their sporting plans and have already rejected significant offers for him this summer, according to the report.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a permanent transfer from Napoli and is under contract with the Turkish club until 30 June 2029. The length of that agreement, together with his importance to Galatasaray, means any potential deal would require a substantial financial commitment from Arsenal.

The striker is valued at 75m euros by Transfermarkt. He is currently reported to earn 18,750,000 euros per year in Turkey, equivalent to 12,187,500,000 CFA francs.

Arsenal are not the only club interested in the forward. Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are also tracking Osimhen, as reported exclusively by Africafoot. Despite that competition, Arsenal are said to be determined to try to complete a deal for the player this summer.

Any move would add another high-profile attacking option to Arteta’s squad. Arsenal have long been searching for greater strength and efficiency in front of goal, while Osimhen’s pace and ability to lead the line would fit the profile of the centre-forward the manager wants to recruit.

Galatasaray are due to begin their Turkish league campaign shortly, with a first-round fixture against Corum FK. Ahead of that match, the betting company 1xBet lists Galatasaray as clear favourites at 1.15 to win. A draw is priced at 6.30, while a Corum FK victory is rated at 11.

The fixture offers an immediate reminder of Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray, but the growing interest from Arsenal and Al Hilal could ensure that his future remains one of the main transfer stories surrounding the club.
