Arsenal have made a formal offer to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, initiating transfer talks that could lead to one of the Premier League’s most significant moves this summer.
Madueke, who is of Nigerian descent, is seen by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as a crucial addition to strengthen his front line for the upcoming campaign.
The 23-year-old England international is now being considered as a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, both of whom underwhelmed in the 2024–25 season.
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Gunners have tabled an official bid and are waiting on Chelsea’s response.
“Understand Arsenal have already submitted an offer to Noni Madueke. Talks have started,” he reported. “Madueke is one of several top profiles Arsenal are assessing for this position.”
Arsenal are also said to be monitoring Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as an alternative, should their move for Madueke stall.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are undergoing a reshuffle in attack under new boss Enzo Maresca. The club has secured Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and is closing in on Joao Pedro from Brighton and Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
The influx of attacking talent could leave Madueke surplus to requirements, making a deal more likely.
Despite the transfer speculation, Maresca previously indicated that Madueke remains part of his plans: “Noni is our player… we consider Noni our player for the coming season.”
Whether that stance will hold firm amid Arsenal’s interest remains to be seen.
