Arsenal step up pursuit of record-breaking teenager Jeremy Monga
Arsenal are intensifying their focus on emerging talent across English football, with Leicester City forward Jeremy Monga now understood to be among their leading targets as the club prepares to reshape its recruitment strategy.
The 16-year-old winger has already entered the history books, having become the second youngest player to feature in the Premier League when he made his debut in April 2025, behind only Arsenal prospect Ethan Nwaneri.
He has since been pushed to third on that list following the introduction of Max Dowman, who also broke into the top flight at an even younger age when he came off the bench against Leeds United last August aged 15 years and 235 days.
Monga’s rapid rise has not gone unnoticed at the Emirates Stadium, where Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly planning a summer shift in transfer policy towards securing the most promising teenage talents available.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal view the Leicester youngster as a player of significant long-term potential, fitting the club’s growing emphasis on youth development alongside immediate first-team quality.
Despite already agreeing a professional contract with Leicester City that is set to take effect when he turns 17 this summer, his future at the King Power Stadium remains open.
The agreement offers no absolute guarantee of continuity, particularly if interest from elite clubs intensifies.
Arsenal are expected to monitor his situation closely as they weigh up whether to make a formal move in what could become a competitive pursuit for one of English football’s most closely watched teenage prospects.
