Arsenal are reportedly open to allowing William Saliba join Real Madrid in the summer, but only if French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni is included as part of the deal.
Saliba, whose roots trace back to Cameroon despite representing France internationally, has become one of the most sought-after centre-backs in Europe following his commanding displays under Mikel Arteta.
The 24-year-old has been a key figure in Arsenal’s title push this season and is viewed by Real Madrid as a long-term solution to their aging and injury-hit defence.
With just two years remaining on his current deal after this season, Arsenal are eager to extend Saliba’s contract.
However, interest from the Spanish giants could test their resolve.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Gunners would only consider sanctioning Saliba’s departure if Real Madrid agree to send Tchouaméni to North London in exchange.
Arteta is expected to reshape his midfield ahead of next season, particularly with Jorginho and Thomas Partey both linked with potential exits.
The Spanish manager reportedly admires Tchouaméni’s blend of physicality and technical skill, which he believes would suit Arsenal’s playing style.
Tchouaméni, 25, has faced fierce competition for places at Madrid and may find more consistent playing time at the Emirates.
However, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid are willing to part with a player they signed in 2022 for over €80 million.
Any negotiations would likely be complex, but the reported willingness of Arsenal to entertain a player-swap could open the door to one of the summer’s most high-profile transfer stories.
