Arsenal offer Franco-Malian defender Williams Saliba five-year contract renewal
Premier League giants Arsenal are keen to keep France international of Cameroonian descent William Saliba, offering him a new contract at the club.
Saliba, who has emerged as a top transfer target for Spanish giants Real Madrid current contract with the Gunners runs until summer 2027.
The Premier League giants has no intention of allowing Saliba to enter the final months of his contract next summer, prompting new contract offer for the rock-solid defender.
In the last couple of days, the Gunners has initiated talks of a contract renewal with the Saint-Etienne Academy graduate, submitting a five-year contract extension with Saliba, which would effectively tie the centre-back for the long term, until 2030.
Talks are reportedly underway between all parties. Arsenal would be keen for a quick resolution, given major European clubs are monitoring Saliba’s situation, including Real Madrid.
Saliba is currently unavailable for selection after picking up an ankle injury in their Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal.
The France international is expected to miss a couple of weeks of action due to the injury setback. He was unavailable for the France national team during the September international break.
