Arsenal’s newly appointed technical director, Andrea Berta, has prioritized securing a new contract for promising midfielder Ethan Nwaneri.
Berta, who joined the club two weeks ago, has initiated discussions with Nwaneri’s representatives to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Ethan Nwaneri, of Nigerian descent, has made significant strides this season, featuring in 31 matches across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.
In the Premier League, the 17-year-old has appeared 21 times, netting three goals and providing two assist. His contributions have been vital, especially during periods when key attackers were sidelined due to injuries.
Nwaneri’s current contract runs until 2026. However, Arsenal’s management views securing his long-term future as a crucial internal objective.
Both Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta are keen to ensure that the young talent remains an integral part of the squad.
In addition to Nwaneri, Arsenal is also in the process of negotiating new terms with another emerging talent, Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Nwaneri’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with former professionals and pundits advocating for his inclusion in the England national team setup.
Despite his youth, his displays have drawn comparisons to established stars, highlighting his potential to make an impact on both domestic and international stages.
