ARSENAL: DJOUROU STAYS PERMANENTLY IN HAMBURG

After a lengthy spell with Arsenal since the 2005-2006 season, Johan Djourou is set to part ways with the London club. Initially loaned to Hamburg, the Swiss international defender of Ivorian origin has now finalized a permanent move to the Bundesliga side.

Confirmation of Djourou’s extended stay came from Hamburg SV’s coach, Mirko Slomka, who announced during a press conference on Wednesday that Djourou would continue his journey with the club. Slomka expressed his delight, stating, “I am delighted that he will stay with us for the next few years because he is a stabilizing element at the center of our defense.”

Reportedly, Djourou will join Hamburg SV at the end of the season for a fee of €2.5 million, as reported by Bild. The 27-year-old center-back, who initially joined Hamburg after a six-month loan spell at Hannover in the latter half of the 2012-13 season, has made 20 appearances in the Bundesliga this season. This marks a new chapter for Djourou, who has shown a consistent level of performance since 2012, having struggled to secure regular playing time under Arsène Wenger at Arsenal.
