Arsenal have begun pre-contract negotiations with Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
With his contract set to expire in June, the German international of Senegalese descent is free to discuss terms with clubs outside Germany.
According to Sky Deutschland, Arsenal are in talks with the 28-year-old’s representatives about a potential return to the Premier League.
Sané is well known to Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, who worked with him during their time together at Manchester City.
Arteta reportedly holds the winger in high regard and believes he could add quality and experience to Arsenal’s attack.
Despite Arsenal’s interest, Sané has not ruled out remaining at Bayern Munich. He is even open to accepting reduced wages to stay with the Bundesliga champions.
However, Bayern’s management has yet to open talks over a contract extension, leaving his future uncertain.
Sané joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2020 and has been a key player for the club, contributing with goals and assists in both domestic and European competitions.
If Arsenal manage to secure his signature, it would mark a significant addition to their squad as they aim to compete for major trophies next season.
