Coton Sport Strengthens Defence with Signing of Arnaud Anasse
Coton Sport de Garoua, currently leading Group B in the African Confederations Cup group stage, is seeking to bolster its defensive line after a series of performances that have left the club’s management wanting more stability at the back. The Cameroonian powerhouse has confirmed the signing of defender Arnaud Anasse, a move personally driven by head coach Didier Gomez Da Rosa.
The French coach, who has previously worked with Anasse, praised the Franco-Ivorian for his qualities, describing him as a key asset capable of reinforcing Coton Sport’s defence. Speaking to the club’s official website, Gomez Da Rosa said, “He is a defender full of qualities, very strong in duels, excellent in the air, which allowed me during my first two years as coach to solidify my defence.”
Anasse’s experience and maturity make him an ideal fit for the team’s immediate needs. The coach expressed confidence in the defender’s quick adaptation to the squad, highlighting his ambition and eagerness to join. “I told him of our interest on Sunday, and he will be in Douala from Thursday and in Garoua Friday evening,” Gomez Da Rosa added.
Beyond his defensive capabilities, Anasse is expected to take on a leadership role within the squad. The coach emphasized that the new signing’s profile aligns with the club’s vision of nurturing young talent. “A leader capable of coaching our youngest players like Nicaise and Kingue, capable of showing them that hard work and humility are the only paths to follow to go higher,” he remarked.
Anasse’s arrival represents a strategic step by Coton Sport as they aim to maintain their competitive edge in the Confederations Cup while continuing to develop their squad’s depth and resilience. With his experience and leadership qualities, the defender is set to play a pivotal role in Coton Sport’s campaign moving forward.
