Senegalese left-back Arial Mendy is being linked with a move from Beitar Jerusalem to FC Ashdod in an all-Ligat ha’Al transfer rumour.
The 31-year-old defender, currently valued at €350,000, has emerged as a potential target for Ashdod, according to data from Transfermarkt. The move would keep Mendy in Israel’s top flight, with FC Ashdod and Beitar Jerusalem both competing in Ligat ha’Al. No fee, contract length or level of talks has been specified, and the reported probability of the deal is listed only as “?”, underlining the speculative nature of the link.
Mendy, who plays primarily as a left-back and favours his left foot, joined Beitar Jerusalem after a spell in France with Grenoble Foot 38. His current contract details at Beitar are not publicly recorded, leaving open the possibility that any switch could involve a low fee or even a free-agent scenario, depending on his actual contractual status.
Born on 7 November 1994 in Ziguinchor, Senegal, Mendy has built up experience across several European leagues. After leaving Diambars de Saly FC in Senegal for RC Lens in 2018, he had a loan at US Orléans, then moved to Swiss side Servette FC, before returning to France with Clermont Foot 63 and later Grenoble. During that period his market value peaked at around €800,000 while at Clermont, before gradually declining to its current €350,000 mark at Beitar Jerusalem.
The defender’s career path, moving from Ligue 2 and the Swiss Super League into Israeli football, suggests Ashdod would be acquiring a player used to adapting to new environments and tactical demands. Should the rumoured move materialise, it could offer Mendy another opportunity to reassert his value in Ligat ha’Al and shape the latter stages of his career in a league he now knows well.
