Arab Contractors clinch first Egyptian Premier League win as Ghazl El Mahalla hold Haras El Hodood
Arab Contractors finally celebrated their first Egyptian Premier League victory of the season, edging Modern Sport 2-1 away in Cairo.
After a tough start and a managerial change, the team showed grit, coming from behind after conceding a penalty early in the second half. The equalizer arrived in the 74th minute, before Mostafa Sobhi sealed the win with a late strike in the 87th, sparking joy among their fans.
The match was a test of discipline as both sides saw a player sent off, with Modern Sport’s Tariq Mohamed and Contractors’ Charles Ekbing receiving red cards. The win lifts Arab Contractors to 16th place as they seek stability under new manager Sami Qomsan, formerly of Ahly.
In another match, Ghazl El Mahalla earned a goalless draw against Haras El Hodood, continuing their trend of tight matches and defensive discipline. Under coach Alaa Abdel Aal, Mahalla climbed to tenth in the table with their ninth draw, while Haras maintain position in 15th.
