Hossam Hassan, the technical director of the Egyptian national team, is set to hold a meeting with Rogerio Micale, the head coach of the Olympic national team, in the coming days to coordinate between the two sides regarding player selections ahead of the March camp.
The Egyptian national team is scheduled to participate in an international friendly tournament in March, featuring Tunisia, New Zealand, and Croatia from March 22nd to 26th.
Meanwhile, the Olympic national team will compete in the West Asian tournament.
The Egyptian Football Association, under the leadership of President Gamal Allam, has confirmed the participation of the Olympic team, led by Brazilian head coach Micale, in the friendly West Asian tournament to be held in Saudi Arabia from March 18th to 26th.
This decision is part of Egypt’s preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The tournament will include 8 Olympic teams: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, the UAE, Thailand, Australia, and South Korea.
Micale, the Brazilian coach who led Brazil to a gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, has finalized the list of players to be called up for the important tournament, which is considered a significant step towards Olympic preparations.
Mahmoud Harb, the team’s administrative manager, is awaiting details regarding the tournament draw and format.
The Olympic team is expected to depart for Saudi Arabia on March 16th, with the tournament likely to take place during the first month of Ramadan.
Mohamed Barakat, a board member overseeing the team, is overseeing all arrangements for the tournament.
Micale has excelled in cultivating a first-class generation of Olympic players, many of whom have become key assets for their clubs in the top leagues.
He urged all club officials to support the national team as it prepares for the Olympic dream.
