Former Al Ahly and Egypt national team star, Mokhtar Mokhtar, has expressed his views on Anthony Modeste’s performance, suggesting that the player’s capabilities might not fully align with the needs of the team.
In a television statement, Mokhtar commented, “Modeste shows good ball-handling skills and has succeeded in creating space in front of the goal through his movement.”
However, he added, “Modeste lacks some of the abilities that Al Ahly needs. He should be more challenging for defenders.”
Mokhtar emphasized that age cannot be an excuse at Al Ahly, stating, “All of Al Ahly’s matches are geared towards competing for titles. Today’s match was easy, and their defense helped Al Ahly score goals.”
Comparing Al Ahly’s performance with that of Beladiya Al-Mahalla, Mokhtar noted, “Beladiya Al-Mahalla has shown better form in some other matches, but they performed below par today.”
Concluding his remarks, Mokhtar highlighted the repetitive nature of Al Ahly’s goals, saying, “Al Ahly scored three goals in the same manner. It might happen once, but it shouldn’t occur three times.”
