Cagliari coach Nicola Davide remains undecided on whether Angolan striker Zito Luvumbo will start against Bologna on Sunday, following the forward’s recent return from injury.
The Serie A club is seeking to bounce back after failing to secure victories against Atalanta and Juventus, with Luvumbo’s comeback offering a potential boost.
However, Davide is cautious about rushing the 22-year-old back into the starting lineup, fearing a possible relapse.
“Against Juve, Luvumbo came on well, he can act on the outside or between the lines. He knows how to attack spaces.
We will see if against Bologna we will start him as a starter or a substitute. Bologna are very aggressive and we must not make mistakes,” said Davide.
Luvumbo made his return from injury in last week’s match against Juventus, featuring as a substitute after more than two months on the sidelines.
The forward has registered one goal and one assist in 19 appearances this season — a dip compared to his three goals and three assists over the same number of matches in the previous campaign.
With Cagliari battling to improve their form, the decision on Luvumbo’s involvement will be pivotal as the club aims to climb the Serie A table.
