Cameroonian goalkeeper, André Onana, delivered a solid performance on Sunday night, helping Manchester United secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Fulham in the English Premier League.
Under scrutiny for recent performances, Onana started for the Red Devils in their Week 23 fixture and made crucial saves to ensure his side claimed all three points.
The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Lisandro Martínez took a shot from the edge of the box. A fortunate deflection sent the ball past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, giving United the lead.
In stoppage time, Amad Diallo thought he had doubled the advantage after pouncing on a loose ball inside the penalty area and firing into the bottom right corner.
However, after a VAR review, referee Anthony Taylor ruled the goal out for offside in the build-up.
Despite the late drama, Onana’s composure between the posts helped Manchester United see out the victory, earning the Cameroonian his first clean sheet in eight matches.
He must continue to work hard in training for more top performances in upcoming games.
