André Ayew: Departure Becoming More Likely

Premier League Clubs Circle as Marseille Star Ayew Considers Future

Olympique de Marseille winger André Ayew is attracting increasing interest from top European clubs as uncertainty looms over his future at the Stade Vélodrome.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian international, who will turn 25 in December, has become a central figure in Marcelo Bielsa’s high-flying Marseille side. A product of the club’s youth academy and long considered a symbol of OM’s identity, Ayew’s influence on and off the pitch continues to grow. But his expiring contract could soon bring an end to his tenure in southern France.

According to Talksport, English sides Liverpool and Newcastle United are closely monitoring Ayew’s situation, with both clubs said to be considering a move either in January or next summer. With his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, Ayew would be free to negotiate with other clubs from January onwards — an opportunity that has not gone unnoticed.

Ayew has made no secret of his interest in testing himself abroad, and the Premier League has long been touted as a possible destination. Both Liverpool and Newcastle are believed to be keen on securing the experienced forward on a free transfer, but any January move would require negotiation with Marseille, who may be reluctant to let him leave mid-season.

Reports also suggest that Serie A side Napoli have joined the race for the Ghanaian’s signature, adding further competition for the Premier League suitors.

Despite the growing speculation, Marseille are thought to be determined to retain Ayew, who remains a key part of their campaign. Club officials are reportedly setting a high valuation in an attempt to deter potential buyers and persuade the player to renew his contract.

Ayew’s next move is expected to hinge on several factors: playing time, European competition prospects, and Marseille’s own ambitions this season. OM currently sit near the top of Ligue 1 and are enjoying a resurgence under Bielsa, factors that may weigh in any decision.

Still, with interest mounting and his contractual situation unresolved, it appears increasingly likely that André Ayew is playing out his final months in a Marseille shirt.
