Despite initially announcing his departure this winter, Gohi Bi Cyriac has decided to extend his journey with Anderlecht. Frustrated by his perpetual role as a substitute, the Ivorian striker had contemplated leaving and was expected to be loaned out for more playing time. Despite earlier interest from RC Lens in December, Cyriac has opted to remain with Anderlecht, feeling prepared to showcase his abilities to the team’s technical staff and make a significant impact in the second half of the season.

Speaking about his situation, Cyriac shared his sentiments in comments reported by La Derniere Heure. “I found my feelings again in training. I accelerate again without the slightest reluctance. I am very close to my big comeback,” he stated. While acknowledging fluctuations in morale, Cyriac attributed his improved condition to an extended period of rehabilitation during which he consistently worked. Despite some moments of doubt during his recovery, he emphasized his unwavering belief in his return.

Cyriac expressed gratitude for the break and the opportunity to work hard during the training camp in Abu Dhabi. He aimed to demonstrate to the coaching staff that he could reclaim his true level of performance. The Ivorian striker acknowledged the coach’s understanding of the challenges in resurfacing after a significant injury. He aspired to prove to Sporting Anderlecht that he has the potential to be a regular starter for the flagship team. Cyriac believes that he has showcased positive developments and aims to be viewed as a competitive player, stating, “A Cyriac at 75% is not competitive. A 100% Cyriac can compete with… Batshuayi.”
