Analyst urges patience over Nigerian prospect Fashanu Michael

Trivela Brazil coordinator Pedro Ramos has cautioned against the growing hype around Nigerian forward Fashanu Michael, who has been linked with a possible Super Eagles call-up following his impressive displays in Brazil.

The 20-year-old forward has been one of the standout players in the Brazilian youth system this year, scoring seven goals and providing two assists to help Fortaleza U-20 clinch the national youth league title.

His exploits have generated interest among Nigerian fans eager to see new attacking options for the national team.

But Ramos believes the excitement is premature.

Speaking to Soccernet.ng from Brazil, the football analyst stressed that Fashanu is yet to break into Fortaleza’s senior side and must continue developing before thinking about international football.

“He only played for Fortaleza U-20. Not a single match for the first team all year,” Ramos said.

“Fortaleza is battling against relegation in the Brazilian league, and he has little chance to have a first-team opportunity right now. So I think for the Super Eagles, it’s a long shot.”

Ramos, who oversees editorial operations at Trivela, acknowledged Fashanu’s talent and progress since moving from Dynamic Plus Soccer Academy in Nigeria but noted that consistent senior-level competition is essential to his growth.

“Fashanu has shown promise, but he must take things step by step,” Ramos added.

“Performing at youth level in Brazil is an achievement, but it’s not yet a measure for senior international football.”

Despite the cautious tone, the young forward’s rise underscores a growing connection between Nigerian academies and Brazilian football, as more players seek technical refinement in South America’s competitive environment.

Observers believe Fashanu’s story could inspire more Nigerian talents to explore opportunities abroad, even as experts insist that patience and proper development remain key to sustained success.
