Zamalek board member Amr Adham is taking steps to resolve the club’s financial dispute with former coach Jose Gomes.
The club is looking to settle the $120,000 owed to Gomes and his coaching staff, as reported on Zamalek’s official website.
“Zamalek is keen to settle the matter amicably with Jose Gomez, given the friendly relations between the club and the manager, and his previous payment of the penalty clause due as a result of the cancellation of his contract,” Adham stated on the club’s site.
The outstanding sum includes $60,000 for Gomes and another $60,000 divided among his three assistants; Andre Pique, Luis Vicente (goalkeeping coach), and Joao Miguel (fitness coach), each owed $20,000, according to Kooora.
Gomes, who left Zamalek midway through the season to join Al-Fath in Saudi Arabia, has since taken the matter to FIFA. His time at Zamalek saw him guide the team to Confederation Cup and African Super Cup triumphs before his sudden departure.
Adham’s involvement may help close the issue peacefully and maintain the club’s reputation.
