Olympique Marseille are set to return with a second bid for Stade Rennais striker Amine Gouiri after their first offer was turned down.
The initial bid, which included a €2m loan fee with a €10m mandatory purchase option, was deemed ‘insufficient’ by the Brittany-based club, prompting OM to plan a revised proposal.
Gouiri, who has impressed in Ligue 1 with past clubs Lyon, Nice, and Rennes, is reportedly eager to join Marseille, with manager Roberto de Zerbi keen on bringing the Algerian international on board. The 24-year-old forward’s potential arrival would strengthen OM’s attacking options following the departure of Elye Wahi to Eintracht Frankfurt.
With the current squad lacking depth in the forward line—leaving Neal Maupay, Mason Greenwood, and 17-year-old Robinio Vaz as the primary number 9 options—De Zerbi emphasized the importance of a strong replacement for Wahi. In his pre-match press conference, he noted: “If Wahi leaves, a strong player will arrive. It’s difficult in winter, but I’m expecting a strong replacement. We’ll have a striker!”
According to Transfermarkt, Amine Gouiri’s current market value is 20,000,000 euros.
