Amine Adli has spoken of his strong belief in Morocco’s chances at the 2026 World Cup, insisting the national team has the quality and mentality to compete at the highest level following their rise in international football in recent years.
In an interview with RMC Sport, the Moroccan international underlined his confidence in the current squad and the direction of the team as they prepare for another major tournament after their breakthrough performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Morocco are now aiming to further establish themselves among football’s elite on the global stage.
“With this group and the quality of players Morocco has, we can definitely have a great tournament. We aspire to achieve great things,” the Moroccan player told RMC Sport in an interview. His comments reflect the growing belief within the national setup as expectations continue to rise ahead of 2026.
Adli also reflected on a difficult personal period after missing the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, describing the setback as a motivating factor in his efforts to return to the national team setup and prove his value.
“I had already missed the AFCON, it stung a bit, it pushed me to perform even better, and I was able to join the last training camp,” explained the player, highlighting his determination to regain a consistent place in the squad.
Competition for places in the Moroccan team remains intense, and Adli admitted uncertainty over selection for the World Cup squad as anticipation builds ahead of the final announcement.
“I’m eagerly awaiting the squad announcement and I hope to see my name on it. I know I could be happy or disappointed,” added the Bournemouth player.
Looking ahead to the tournament, Morocco have been drawn in Group C alongside Brazil, Haiti and Scotland, setting up a challenging group stage campaign against varied opposition.
For Adli, however, the focus remains on the dream of representing his country on football’s biggest stage.
“The World Cup is a tournament everyone dreams of. The great players, the great stadiums, the greatest nations, the atmosphere… It’s always in the back of my mind,” concluded the Moroccan international, who remains hopeful of being part of Morocco’s World Cup journey.
