Amedspor reveal true cost of Gift Orban loan from Hoffenheim

Amedspor have paid €500,000 to sign Gift Orban on loan from Hoffenheim, club president Nahit Eren has confirmed.

The Turkish club will also be required to make the move permanent if the Nigeria international scores 10 goals this season. The final transfer fee has been set at €3m, rather than the €5m figure reported by some media outlets.

Eren, speaking to Amida Haber, said Amedspor had not paid €1m for the loan deal. He also explained that the permanent transfer fee would not be settled in one instalment, with payments spread over several years to protect the club’s financial balance.

Orban has made an impressive start to life in Turkey since joining Amedspor. After six league matches, the former Lyon forward has scored seven goals and provided two assists, making him one of the club’s most influential players.

His performances mean he is already close to the 10-goal threshold that would trigger the compulsory purchase clause. If he reaches that figure, Amedspor will have to complete the transfer for €3m under the terms agreed with Hoffenheim.

The 23-year-old remains under contract with Hoffenheim until 30 June 2029. His market value is estimated at €7m, while his annual salary is €750,000, equivalent to 487,500,000 FCFA.

Amedspor are due to play their seventh Turkish league fixture against Genclerbirligi next. The published match prices list Amedspor at 2.35 to win, a draw at 3.40 and a Genclerbirligi victory at 2.25.
