Almugera Kabar ready for NEC Nijmegen challenge after completing loan move from Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have sent young left-back Almugera Kabar on loan to Dutch Eredivisie club NEC Nijmegen for the 2026-27 season.

The 20-year-old German youth international will spend the campaign in the Netherlands, where he is expected to gain regular first-team experience in the country’s top division.

Kabar begins new chapter in Netherlands

Kabar joined Dortmund’s academy at the age of 13 and progressed through every youth category at the German club before making his senior breakthrough.

He made his Bundesliga debut in October 2024 and has since featured six times in Germany’s top flight.

The defender has also played 14 matches for Borussia Dortmund II in the third tier and made 21 appearances in the Regionalliga West, scoring seven goals.

His loan spell at NEC Nijmegen is intended to give him more regular exposure to senior football and further his development.

Dortmund retain long-term plans

Despite the temporary move, Dortmund continue to hold Kabar’s future in their hands, with the defender contracted to the club until 2028.

The Eredivisie experience will give Kabar an opportunity to establish himself at senior level while playing regularly in a competitive European league.

For the young defender, the move represents an important step in his development as he seeks to turn his potential into consistent first-team football.
