Highly rated left-back Almugera Kabar is being linked with a move from Borussia Dortmund to Hamburg, with the probability of a deal currently rated at 42% according to Transfermarkt data.
The 19-year-old, who represents both Germany and Libya at youth level, is rumoured to be on Hamburg’s radar as they explore options to strengthen the left side of their defence. Dortmund, his current club, have seen his estimated market value climb to €3.00m, a rise reflected in recent updates over the past two seasons. With no public information on a contract expiry at Dortmund, speculation also includes the possibility that Kabar could become a free agent in the near future, further fuelling interest.
Kabar has progressed exclusively through the German system, moving from SV Hüsten 09’s youth ranks to Hammer SpVg Youth, before joining Borussia Dortmund’s academy in 2019. He has since stepped up from Dortmund’s U17s to the U19s and then into the senior squad in August 2024, all within the Bundesliga structure. Primarily a left-back, he is listed as a left-footed defender, a profile that would fit Hamburg’s need for energy and height on the flank, with the 1.86m defender capable of offering both defensive presence and attacking support.
Recent performances for Dortmund’s senior side, including a Bundesliga outing in which he featured at left-back in a tightly contested match that ended in a narrow scoreline, have helped push his valuation from €1.00m to €3.00m between 2024 and late 2025. Those displays appear to have alerted potential suitors, with Hamburg emerging as a leading candidate.
Should the move materialise, a switch to Hamburg could offer Kabar more regular first-team minutes and a platform to sharpen his reputation, potentially accelerating his development into a prominent Bundesliga defender.
