Olympique Lyonnais Eye Cameroonian Defender Allan Nyom
Olympique Lyonnais could soon welcome another Cameroonian alongside Henri Bedimo, as the club considers signing right-back Allan Nyom. Lyon’s new coach, Hubert Fournier, is actively seeking reinforcements in that position, and Nyom has emerged as a prime candidate.
According to reports from Foot Mercato, Lyon’s management has expressed interest in the 26-year-old Granada defender, who may be available for a transfer fee between €2 million and €3 million—a figure that fits well within the Rhône club’s budget.
Nyom, who has spent five seasons with Granada in La Liga, has established himself as a reliable presence at the heart of the Spanish club’s defense. His performances have also earned him a spot on the Cameroon national team, with 11 caps to date, including a notable display at the 2014 World Cup, where he impressed even in a 4-1 loss to Brazil.
On the possibility of moving to Lyon, Nyom told the Spanish site Fichajes:
“I’ve been at Granada for five years. I’m not thinking too much about my future right now. We’ll see when I get back from vacation. I feel good in Granada. Afterwards, if a good opportunity arises for all parties, I’ll go there with my eyes closed. It’s true that Lyon is a very good club. Yes, it would be good, it would not be bad.”
With the transfer window open and Lyon eager to strengthen their squad, Nyom’s potential arrival could bolster the club’s defensive options while adding another international presence alongside Bedimo at the Stade de Gerland.
