Alisson fined 8,000 pounds for kicking substitution board after Forest draw

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been fined 8,000 pounds by the Football Association for kicking a substitution board following the 2-2 Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Brazil international accepted an FA charge of acting improperly in the tunnel area after the final whistle and was given the standard penalty.

Alisson had already been booked during the match at Anfield after arguing with the referee when the fourth official was not ready with the electronic board as Nottingham Forest prepared to make three substitutions.

With the score level at 1-1, Forest restarted play quickly while Liverpool were still reorganising. Neco Williams then moved into the penalty area and was brought down by Alisson, prompting the referee to award a penalty.

The visitors converted from the spot to take a 2-1 lead. Liverpool recovered later in the match to earn a point, but Alisson’s frustration continued after the final whistle.

The 33-year-old walked past the substitution board near the tunnel before kicking it. Footage showed that the equipment was damaged in the incident.

An FA spokesperson said: “It was alleged that the goalkeeper acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area after the final whistle.”

The spokesperson added: “Alisson Becker subsequently accepted the charge against him and received the standard penalty.”

The incident followed a match in which the goalkeeper had already been involved in an exchange with the officials over the delayed preparation of the substitution board.

Liverpool had been attempting to reorganise defensively when Nottingham Forest restarted play, allowing Williams to advance into the box. Alisson’s challenge resulted in the penalty that put the visitors in front before Liverpool secured a share of the points.

The fine is the standard punishment after Alisson accepted the charge, and no further details of any additional sanction were provided by the FA.

Liverpool’s next fixture is at home against Fulham on Saturday.
