Al Ahly will have a major boost for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng makes an early return from his loan spell at Saudi side Al Kholood.
Dieng joined Al Kholood last summer on a season-long loan but will now cut short his stay to rejoin the Egyptian champions ahead of the global tournament.
The Saudi club confirmed the decision through an official statement on X, agreeing to release the midfielder before his loan deal ends on June 30, two weeks after the Club World Cup kicks off.
“The management of Al Kholood Club has decided to terminate the loan of the Malian international player Alieu Dieng,” read the statement.
They noted the decision was made to allow the player to return to Al Ahly and take part in the tournament.
Dieng made 31 appearances for Al Kholood this season, scoring three goals and playing a key role in helping the club remain in the Saudi Pro League.
The statement ended with appreciation for Dieng’s professionalism and his impact during his loan spell.
