Alieu Fadera has officially joined Como 1907, marking his arrival in Serie A for the upcoming season. The Gambian forward has signed a four-year contract with the newly promoted Italian club, securing his place in Italy’s top-flight football until 2028.

The transfer was confirmed by Como through an announcement on their official channels. “Como 1907 is pleased to announce the signing, with a four-year contract, of left-footed striker Alieu Fadera, from the Belgian team Genk,” read the club’s statement.

The 22-year-old striker expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “I am really happy, Serie A is a very competitive league and I am eager to start this new challenge. I look forward to meeting the comrades and helping the team.”

Cesc Fabregas, the head coach of Como, welcomed Fadera’s arrival with enthusiasm, highlighting the striker’s potential to strengthen the team’s attack.

“He is a very fast player and competent in deep play. His characteristics and qualities perfectly complement our attacking department,” said Fabregas, who has been instrumental in shaping the newly promoted club’s ambitions for their Serie A campaign.

To secure Fadera’s signature, Como paid €5 million, plus additional bonuses, to KRC Genk.

The transfer represents a significant investment for the Italian side as they prepare for the challenges of Serie A.

Fadera’s move to Como comes after a season at Genk, where he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.

Although he occasionally displayed his abilities, injuries and inconsistent form limited his impact, resulting in three goals and four assists across 37 appearances, with only 23 starts.

Fadera’s football journey has seen him rise through the ranks of European football.

After leaving Zulte Waregem for KRC Genk just a year ago for €4 million, the Gambian international faced difficulties in breaking into the starting lineup at the Cegeka Arena.

Despite these challenges, his potential has never been in doubt, and his move to Como offers a fresh opportunity to showcase his talent on one of the biggest stages in world football.

As Como embarks on its first season in Serie A since promotion, Fadera’s arrival is seen as a key addition to the squad.

His pace, technical ability, and versatility are expected to add a new dimension to the team’s attacking options.

The Gambian striker will be eager to prove himself in Italy, aiming to overcome the obstacles that hindered his progress in Belgium.

With his four-year contract in place, Fadera has the chance to develop and make a lasting impact at Como.

The club’s faith in his abilities, coupled with Fabregas’ guidance, could be the catalyst for a successful spell in Serie A.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Fadera as he looks to make his mark in Italian football.
