Ali Maamar joins Morocco training camp ahead of World Cup friendlies
Morocco continued their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with another training session on Sunday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, as the Atlas Lions step up their final build-up to the global tournament.
The session formed part of the technical and physical programme designed by the national team’s coaching staff to ensure the squad reaches peak condition ahead of the competition in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ali Maamar Added to Training Camp
One of the key developments from Sunday’s session was the arrival of Ali Maamar, who joined the national team camp ahead of Morocco’s upcoming friendly against Madagascar.
The Anderlecht player was integrated into the squad as preparations continue for the warm-up fixture, which will serve as an important test for the Atlas Lions before their World Cup campaign begins.
Following the match against Madagascar, Maamar is expected to link up with Morocco’s Under 23 national team.
Focus Turns to Madagascar Clash
Morocco’s preparations have continued in a focused and disciplined atmosphere, with players working to build fitness levels and strengthen team chemistry ahead of the tournament.
The Atlas Lions are scheduled to face Madagascar on June 2, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in what will be their final home friendly before departing for the United States.
Final Test Before World Cup
After the Madagascar encounter, Morocco will travel to the United States, where they will complete their preparations with a final friendly match against Norway next Sunday.
The fixture will provide head coach and his staff with one last opportunity to assess the squad before the start of the World Cup, as Morocco aim to build on their growing reputation as one of Africa’s leading football nations.
With the countdown to the tournament now well underway, every training session and friendly match is taking on added significance as the Atlas Lions seek to arrive at the World Cup fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
