Veteran full-back Ali Maaloul will take center stage as he joins Al Ahly’s young squad for Thursday’s Egyptian Capital Cup match against Fargo.
The club has chosen to rely on its 2005 team talents for this final group stage fixture, giving key senior players a rest ahead of the weekend’s Champions League semi-final first leg against South Africa’s Sundowns.
A source from Al Ahly revealed that players left out of the squad for the South African trip will headline the team against Fargo. Among them are Maaloul, Omar El Sai, Mustafa Makhlouf, and Khaled Abdel Fattah all expected to bring experience and composure to the youthful lineup.
Defender Moataz Mohamed is also set to return to the fold following a suspension stemming from an earlier altercation with former youth coach Abdelhamid Hassan Mido. The team will assemble tomorrow morning but will not enter a closed camp ahead of the match.
The young side will be guided by Samer Abdel Rahman, the technical director of the young team, who will be looking to inspire an impressive showing.
