Al Ahly interim coach Emad El-Nahhas has recalled Tunisian international Ali Maâloul to the squad for the first time this Egyptian Premier League season.
The experienced left-back has been named in the team ahead of their upcoming clash against Petrojet, set for Wednesday evening in the third round of the Championship playoff round.
Maâloul, who had been out of action for an extended period due to injury, was not part of former coach Marcel Koller’s plans following his recovery.
His inclusion now signals a fresh start under new technical leadership, with El-Nahhas taking charge after Koller’s recent dismissal.
This match will mark El-Nahhas’s first official game at the helm, and he has called up a mix of senior and young players.
The list includes Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Hamza Alaa, Rami Rabia, Omar Kamal Abdelwahid, Yasser Ibrahim, Achraf Dari, Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Marwan Attia, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Reda, Amr El Solia, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Karim Nedved, Hussein El Shahat, Taher Mohamed Taher, Achraf Bencharki, Wissam Abou Ali, and Jénik Gradischar.
Al Ahly parted company with Koller and his backroom staff after the club was knocked out of the CAF Champions League semifinals by Mamelodi Sundowns.
El-Nahhas was appointed interim coach, with Mohamed Shawky stepping in as his assistant.
