Algeria international Ramiz Zerrouki has resumed training with Feyenoord Rotterdam after a lengthy absence due to injury.
The midfielder had been sidelined since January 18 with a foot problem that required an extended rehabilitation period.
According to Dutch media outlet 1908, Zerrouki has now rejoined group training after weeks of individualized fitness work.
During his recovery, he was spotted playing padel, a sport often used by athletes to aid rehabilitation.
Fight for a Starting Spot
Zerrouki’s return comes at a crucial time for Feyenoord, as new coach Robin van Persie seeks dependable midfield options.
However, after more than two months out, the 25-year-old will face a battle to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup, with fierce competition for places in the squad.
His absence also impacted his standing in the Algerian national team. He missed the March training camp, where midfielders such as Adam Zorgane, Hicham Boudaoui, and Ahmed Kendouci impressed.
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers approaching, Zerrouki will need to regain top form quickly if he hopes to earn a recall from head coach Vladimir Petković.
