Hicham Boudaoui’s time at OGC Nice may soon be coming to an end, with Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg reportedly expressing strong interest in securing the Algerian midfielder’s services.
According to well-connected football journalist Nabil Djellit, Wolfsburg are monitoring Boudaoui closely and could make a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.
Should the transfer materialise, it would see Boudaoui reunite with fellow Algerian international Mohamed Amoura, who currently plays for the German side.
Boudaoui, 24, joined the Ligue 1 club in the summer of 2019 and has since grown into one of the team’s most dependable midfielders. Over the course of five seasons on the French Riviera, he has developed into a central figure for the club, lauded for his relentless work ethic, tactical discipline, and seamless link-up play.
This campaign, in particular, has been regarded by many as his finest yet in European football. Deployed as a box-to-box midfielder, Boudaoui has impressed with his intelligent positioning, effective ball recovery, and incisive forward movement.
His standout display came in Nice’s recent 3-1 victory over reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, a result that handed the Parisians their first league defeat of the season.
Boudaoui played a pivotal role in that performance, controlling the tempo in midfield and helping neutralise PSG’s attacking threats.
With his current contract running until June 2025, Boudaoui’s future has become a topic of growing speculation. Wolfsburg’s interest is believed to be serious, with the club keen to bolster its midfield options.
Bringing in Boudaoui would not only strengthen their squad but also offer the added benefit of pairing him with Amoura, a reunion that could enhance on-field chemistry between two players who have developed a solid understanding with the Algerian national team.
The prospect of a move to the Bundesliga could represent a new chapter for Boudaoui, offering him a chance to test himself in a different tactical environment.
For Wolfsburg, it could be a strategic acquisition, especially as they look to reinforce their squad with dynamic, versatile players capable of adapting to the demands of German football.
At this stage, no formal offer has been tabled, but the interest is expected to intensify as the summer window approaches. Boudaoui’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and with his profile steadily rising, more clubs could enter the fray.
For now, Boudaoui remains focused on finishing the season strongly with OGC Nice. However, with Wolfsburg waiting in the wings and a potential Algerian partnership on offer, the coming weeks could prove decisive in shaping the next phase of his career.
