Amine Gouiri has been named among the 12 nominees for the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, awarded to the best African player in Ligue 1 by France 24 and RFI.
The Olympique de Marseille forward joins an elite group of contenders vying for the honour in recognition of their outstanding performances this season.
Gouiri’s Impact at Marseille
Since his arrival at Marseille from Stade Rennais in January, the Algerian international has quickly become an integral part of the squad.
In just a few months with his new club, Gouiri has netted four goals and contributed three assists, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most effective forwards in the French top flight.
His influence was evident from the outset, seamlessly adapting to Marseille’s attacking setup and making an immediate impact.
Prior to his mid-season transfer, the 24-year-old had already enjoyed a productive spell with Rennes, registering three goals and two assists in the first half of the campaign.
His consistent performances across both clubs have strengthened his case for the Marc-Vivien Foé award, which celebrates African excellence in Ligue 1.
A Prestigious Honour
The Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, named in memory of the late Cameroonian midfielder, is awarded annually to the most outstanding African player in France’s top tier.
Previous winners include some of the continent’s finest footballers, with Gouiri now hoping to join their ranks.
With the competition for the accolade set to be fierce, the Algerian forward will be looking to maintain his strong form as the season progresses, further cementing his place among Ligue 1’s standout talents.
