Algerian winger Billal Brahimi has returned to Europe, joining Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora on a six-month loan from Santos FC, with an option to buy.
The 25-year-old moves after a frustrating spell in Brazil, where his playing opportunities were extremely limited.
Brahimi arrived at Santos in September 2025 from OGC Nice, seen as a promising acquisition by the Brazilian club.
However, the winger quickly fell out of favour under coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda, making just twenty minutes of competitive football in his time at the club.
Despite his initial desire to establish himself in the first team, Brahimi remained on the sidelines throughout early 2026.
Faced with little playing time and a high salary, Santos agreed to allow Brahimi to seek a new club.
Estrela da Amadora confirmed the deal on 30 January, finalising a loan until the end of the European season.
The agreement provides both the player and the Portuguese club a chance to benefit, while giving Santos relief from financial and squad pressures.
For Brahimi, the move represents an opportunity to reset his career in a league known for developing attacking talent.
The Portuguese top flight offers him the chance to regain confidence, match rhythm, and visibility ahead of the next stage of his career.
