Algerian striker Amin Chiakha draws inspiration from Aït-Nouri’s Manchester City move: “It makes me even hungrier to get there”

Amin Chiakha has made no effort to conceal his growing ambition following compatriot Rayan Aït-Nouri’s recent transfer to Manchester City.

Speaking in an interview with Danish outlet Tipsbladet, the FC Copenhagen striker and Algeria international opened up about his own career goals, expressing how Aït-Nouri’s high-profile move has fuelled his desire to reach similar heights.

Currently playing for FC Copenhagen, the young forward reflected on the recent Algeria training camp, where he spent time with Aït-Nouri in the days leading up to the full-back’s transfer to Pep Guardiola’s side.

“He didn’t really show anything,” Chiakha remarked. “He’s always calm, collected… but maybe smiling a bit more than usual.”

Aït-Nouri’s transfer has done more than make headlines—it has had a personal impact on teammates like Chiakha, who view such moves as tangible proof that top-level success is within reach.

“Seeing a player like Rayan join City makes me even hungrier to get there too,” he said. “It’s not just about ambition. It’s about seeing someone you know make that leap—and realising it’s possible.”

Although Chiakha remains focused on his current role in Denmark, there is a clear sense of growing anticipation around his next steps.

His words carry a mix of realism and quiet confidence, traits that have shaped his measured approach to both club and international duties.

In addition to their time together with the Algerian national team, Chiakha and Aït-Nouri now share another professional link: both are represented by CAA Stellar, one of football’s most influential agencies.

The shared representation, Chiakha admitted, has created a closer bond between them. “We joked about it,” he said. “It’s funny being part of the same agency. It creates a certain connection.”

While the camaraderie between the two is clear, Chiakha remains grounded about the work ahead. Despite being called up to the national squad, he has yet to make a significant impact on the pitch, having not featured in recent fixtures against Rwanda and Sweden. Yet, far from discouraged, he sees these moments as critical learning opportunities.

“I try to absorb as much as I can from the experienced players,” he explained. “Each training session is a chance to improve—especially on the technical side. I can feel the progress every time I step out there.”

This steady development appears to be part of a longer-term strategy for Chiakha, who is carefully balancing aspiration with patience. He remains firmly focused on his growth within the squad, but with whispers of interest from Spanish side Espanyol Barcelona, a possible move could be on the horizon.

The young striker’s outlook is marked by determination and a deep awareness of the journey ahead. His comments reveal a player who is quietly building toward a future he believes in—one where joining a top European club no longer feels out of reach, especially with examples like Aït-Nouri paving the way.

For now, Amin Chiakha continues to put in the work in Copenhagen, eyes firmly set on the next level. As the transfer market continues to evolve this summer, he may soon find himself closer than ever to the dream he’s long been chasing.
