Damac Football Club has announced the appointment of Algerian football veteran Nourredine Benzekri as the technical advisor for the first team, according to a statement provided exclusively to “Al Riyadhia” on Saturday.
While details regarding Benzekri’s specific duties remain undisclosed, the 59-year-old, who previously served as Damac’s head coach from 2019 to 2021, brings a wealth of experience to the Saudi Arabian football scene.
Benzekri boasts a commendable track record in Saudi football. In addition to his tenure at Damac, he managed Al-Fayha during the 2018-2019 season and Al-Raed from 2013 to 2015.
His coaching journey extends across various Arab leagues, including stints with Al-Wakrah in the UAE, Al-Ahli Shendi in Sudan, and ES Setif in Algeria, where he clinched the domestic league title during the 2009-2010 season.
Meanwhile, Damac prepares to resume training on Sunday ahead of their upcoming clash against Al-Wahda on Thursday, part of the 23rd round of the Saudi Professional League.
Their recent defeat to Al-Ittihad, with a scoreline of 0-2, has left Damac in sixth place with 31 points, holding a slender advantage over Al-Fateh and Al-Ittifaq based on goal difference.
