Manchester City have finalised a deal to sign Algerian international Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the 23-year-old left-back agreeing a five-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
City will pay an initial €37 million for Aït-Nouri, with a further €3 million in performance-related add-ons taking the total potential value of the deal to €40 million.
The defender completed his medical examination on Saturday, and an official announcement from the club is expected on Sunday.
Aït-Nouri becomes the latest addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad as the Premier League champions look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season and their upcoming participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
His arrival is seen as a strategic reinforcement to increase depth in the left-back position, with City seeking to maintain their competitive edge on multiple fronts.
The French-born Algerian has been one of Wolves’ standout performers in recent seasons.
Known for his pace, composure, and dribbling ability, Aït-Nouri has developed into a dynamic full-back with strong attacking instincts.
His performances in the Premier League have attracted consistent interest from top clubs, and City have now won the race for his signature.
Negotiations between the two clubs accelerated earlier this week, culminating in a swift agreement on both the fee and personal terms.
Aït-Nouri’s medical was conducted without complications, clearing the final hurdle before the move could be confirmed.
“Rayan Aït-Nouri has signed a five-year contract with Manchester City until 2030,” a source close to the deal confirmed. “The transfer fee agreed upon with Wolves is €40 million. He has completed his medicals and the transfer is expected to be made official on Sunday.”
Aït-Nouri’s arrival comes at a pivotal time for City, who are preparing for the 2025 Club World Cup, set to begin on 15 June.
His inclusion in the squad will provide Guardiola with more tactical flexibility, particularly in matches requiring width and transitional pace down the left flank.
The transfer marks a significant step in Aït-Nouri’s career, moving from mid-table Premier League football to one of Europe’s most successful clubs of the past decade.
With the opportunity to play alongside elite talent and under one of the world’s most revered managers, the Algerian international now finds himself on the cusp of the highest level of European competition.
