A Moroccan court has handed a three-month prison sentence to an Algerian football fan widely known online as “the man who urinates in the stands,” local media reported.
The verdict, issued by the Rabat Court of First Instance, is enforceable and follows the fan’s recent arrest pending investigation.
In addition to the jail term, the court fined the defendant 500 Moroccan dirhams. He was charged with public indecency and using language deemed offensive to public morals and ethics, specifically in the context of a sporting event.
Authorities in Morocco have stressed that the ruling reflects their broader efforts to enforce discipline inside stadiums and uphold public order.
The measures aim to protect the safety of sporting events and ensure a respectful environment for fans.
The case stems from a video the fan posted on social media, in which he admitted to urinating in the stands of Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium.
The clip sparked widespread outrage online.
Reactions poured in from both Moroccan and Algerian users, with many condemning the act as a blatant breach of law and decency.
Several Algerians also voiced disapproval, insisting that the behaviour did not reflect their values or civilized conduct.
