The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has officially announced the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the Algerian Cup competition, starting from the quarterfinals.
Deputy President of FAF, Mohamed Amin Mesloub, affirmed that the football authority has decided to implement the VAR system this season, commencing from the quarterfinal stage of the Algerian Cup.
Speaking exclusively to national television, Mesloub highlighted that VAR usage will be limited to stadiums that meet international standards, including those with a capacity of 12,000 seats and equipped with press facilities, as well as dedicated VAR stations.
He further elaborated, “The Algerian Cup organizing committee will visit the stadiums designated to host quarterfinal matches, ensuring the installation of VAR and television broadcasting.”
It is noteworthy that VAR technology was utilized during the previous season’s competition, specifically from the semifinal stage at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
