Petkovic to reveal Algeria squad during press conference in Baraki

Vladimir Petković is set to announce the squad for Algeria national football team ahead of two international friendlies later this month.

The head coach will unveil his selection on Wednesday during a press conference scheduled for 21:00 local time at the Mohamed Sellah hall inside Nelson Mandela Stadium, according to a statement released by the Algerian Football Federation on Friday.

The announcement forms part of the national team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place from 11 June to 19 July.

Algeria will face Guatemala national football team in the first friendly match on Friday, 27 March at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The match is scheduled to kick off at 20:30 Algerian time.

Four days later, Petkovic’s side will take on Uruguay national football team at the Allianz Stadium.

The South American side includes Federico Valverde, who plays his club football for Real Madrid CF. Kick-off for that match is also set for 20:30 Algerian time.

The upcoming fixtures will mark Algeria’s return to international action during the March window, two months after their campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations came to an end.

Petkovic’s team reached the quarter-finals of the tournament before suffering a 2–0 defeat to Nigeria national football team.

Looking ahead, the Algerian side will also play another friendly in early June as preparations for the World Cup continue.

The “Greens” are scheduled to face Netherlands national football team on Wednesday, 3 June at the Rotterdam stadium, with kick-off set for 19:45 Algerian time.

That match will take place shortly before Algeria travel to the United States for the World Cup tournament. In the group stage, they are drawn in Group J alongside Argentina national football team, Austria national football team and Jordan national football team.
