As the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) gears up to announce the successor for the national team’s coaching role, meticulous attention is directed towards filling the position of the esteemed assistant coach. The FAF’s ad hoc commission, following a thorough evaluation of potential candidates, appears to have found favor in the form of Carlos Queiroz, who is anticipated to step into the significant role recently vacated by Djamel Belmadi.

Queiroz, the Portuguese football tactician, has reportedly navigated the negotiations successfully and is on the brink of being formally appointed, emerging as the favored choice over Vahid Halilhodzic.

The impending announcement is poised to usher in a new era for Algerian football under Queiroz’s stewardship.

However, a crucial decision remains – the selection of the assistant coach who will collaborate with Queiroz in steering the national team towards new heights.

The FAF leadership has expedited the deliberations on this matter, and two prominent former Fennecs have emerged as prominent contenders for the position.

Among the frontrunners is ex-midfielder Karim Ziani, boasting an illustrious career that saw him amass 62 caps and net five goals for the national team.

Ziani, who honed his skills in Orléans and later assumed the role of sports director at JS Kabylie in 2021, stands out as the priority choice of FAF President Walid Sadi, according to reports from DZfoot and La Gazette du Fennec.

In parallel consideration is ex-striker Karim Matmour, recognized for his contributions at Kehler FV in Germany.

Matmour is reportedly favored by Rabah Saadane, a distinguished member of the ad hoc commission, as indicated by insights from LGF.

As the decision-making process nears its conclusion, the selection of the assistant coach will be a critical component in shaping the trajectory of Algerian football.

The anticipated announcement of Queiroz’s appointment, coupled with the eventual revelation of the chosen assistant, sets the stage for a transformative phase in the nation’s footballing journey.
