Algeria national team welcomes experienced goalkeeper coach Guido Nanni
Algeria’s national football team has added a seasoned professional to its technical staff, strengthening its lineup ahead of crucial matches.
The Algerian Football Federation announced the arrival of Guido Nanni, 57, a former Serie A player and highly respected goalkeeper coach.
This decision follows disappointing summer performances against Sweden and a draw with Guinea, which motivated leadership, Coach Vladimir Petkovic and President Walid Sadi, to revamp the staff. A September meeting pinpointed the need for improvement, particularly in the goalkeeper coaching department, previously led by Merouane Messai and Nacereddine Berrama, who had faced criticism.
Guido Nanni brings a wealth of experience, having spent six years as AS Roma’s goalkeeper coach under managers like Rudi Garcia, Luis Enrique, Claudio Ranieri, Luciano Spalletti, and Vincenzo Montella. Beyond Italy, his career included roles in Pescara, Al Nassr, and most recently, with Palermo.
Nanni joins a staff already featuring Italian expertise, including Davide Morandi, Petkovic’s assistant, and Paolo Rongoni, physical coach. This move signals Algeria’s ambition to boost performance and ensure stability at the back for upcoming challenges.
