MC Alger’s hopes of cruising to the Ligue 1 title took a slight dent after they were held to a goalless draw by JS Saoura in Béchar, while CR Belouizdad kept their Champions League qualification dreams alive with a crucial 2–1 win over Paradou AC.
Travelling to Béchar for the final fixture of the 27th round, league leaders MC Alger failed to find the breakthrough against a resolute JS Saoura side.
The draw leaves Khaled Benyahia’s men on 53 points, just four ahead of second-placed JS Kabylie with three matches remaining in the season.
Despite extending their unbeaten run, MC Alger’s inability to secure all three points has narrowed what was previously a six-point cushion at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, CR Belouizdad revived their continental ambitions with a dramatic comeback victory over Paradou AC in an Algiers derby that showcased both resilience and quality.
Paradou opened the scoring early through Yattou, putting the pressure squarely on the home side at the 5 July 1962 Stadium.
But Belouizdad, under the guidance of head coach Sead Ramovic, responded with determination.
Leading the charge was striker Aymen Mahious, who netted twice in the second half—first in the 56th minute and again in the 77th—to seal a vital three points for the reigning champions.
“These three points mean a lot. We never gave up, even after going behind. It’s a big win,” said Mahious, who now finds himself at the centre of CRB’s push for second place.
The victory lifts Belouizdad to 48 points, just one behind JS Kabylie.
With only three rounds of matches left to play, the race for the second spot—which guarantees qualification for next season’s CAF Champions League—is set to go down to the wire.
CRB’s resilience and MC Alger’s slip-up have added late-season intrigue to both the title race and the battle for continental qualification.
The top three remain within touching distance of each other, setting the stage for a tense finish in Algeria’s top flight.
As the pressure mounts, all eyes will turn to the remaining fixtures to see who can hold their nerve and emerge victorious in a season that remains anything but settled.
